Pay Disclosure Monitor: pay in job postings on employer career sites

Observed on employer career sites (ATS sample), EU with the US as a reference, October 2026

Draft: 1 tracked day so far. The monitor is published once it has 28 days of history on a fixed employer panel; until then it is not indexed.

Key findings

On 2026-10-23, 8.6% of the 26,354 employers we read on their own careers sites in 27 EU countries stated pay in at least one open job posting, and 3.4% of their 249,205 postings did. Employers with 1-9 open jobs disclosed pay in 2.4% of postings, those with 250+ in 3.0%. These are observed disclosure rates in an employer-site (ATS) sample that leans towards large multinationals; they are not national figures and say nothing about whether an employer complies with the law. • Employer level: 8.6% of EU employers in the sample state pay in at least one posting; 3.4% of postings do.
  • By employer size (open jobs as the size proxy): 1-9 2.4%, 10-49 4.0%, 50-249 4.0%, 250+ 3.0% of postings state pay.
  • US reference, same method: 24.5% of 761,316 postings state pay, where several states require a pay range in the ad.
  • The EU Pay Transparency Directive (2023/970) requires pay information before the interview, not necessarily in the ad. A posting without pay is not a breach.

Methodology

  • Open jobs read from employers' own careers sites and applicant tracking systems (Workday, Oracle, SmartRecruiters, Greenhouse, Ashby, Personio, Teamtailor, Recruitee, Lever, Workable) without logging in. Staffing agencies and cross-source duplicates removed.
  • Pay stated = a structured pay field of the ATS or a clear pay range in the posting text. A posting is counted in its first listed country.
  • Employer size proxy = the employer's open jobs across all countries that day (1-9, 10-49, 50-249, 250+). It is not headcount.
  • The trend uses a fixed employer panel (boards known before the panel cut-off), so a newly added board cannot move it.
  • Source table: the daily pay-transparency history of the posted-pay feed (one row per country and size band).

Coverage and caveats

  • Sample bias: employer-site ATS boards skew to large and multinational employers. Job-board-based studies (all employers, all channels) report much higher national disclosure rates in some countries; the two are not comparable, and we do not rank countries on this sample.
  • In-ad pay is mandatory only in a few member states (for example Italy, Lithuania, Austria and, in part, Poland). Everywhere else the directive asks for pay information before the interview, which a posting may not show. An observed rate is not a compliance rate, and this report makes no statement about any employer meeting or missing a legal duty.
  • Coverage on 2026-10-23: 8,432 EU postings with pay and 186,283 US postings with pay in the underlying feed; 1 tracked day (history from 2026-10-23).
